The 2011 release #MounaGuru is one of the most intriguing thrillers that Tamil cinema industry has ever seen. This gem of a film which was appreciated by all leading websites, press and celebrities including Rajinikanth, was not well-received by the audience sadly.

Director A.R.Murugadoss has done a tidy justification in the Hindi remake of this film – ‘#Akira‘. The film is an honest remake with minor changes in the protagonist characterization and a few scenes here and there. In A.R.Murugadoss’s career, almost all of his films have been remade in a minimum of 4 to 5 languages; this is the first time ever, A.R.M is remaking a film in his career!

A.R.M has made a few changes to the script in his own style without disturbing the core plot, adding his flavour. He is successful in presenting ‘Akira’ as an ‘A.R.Murugadoss’ brand entertainer! (Say the initial scenes describing Akira’s nature & traits, the scene where Akira speaks to the hearing impaired students about disability).

The only problem that we have is accepting Sonakshi Sinha in the role of Akira. Her efforts are obvious, she tries her best to present herself convincingly. The performance isn’t complain-able either; but still, this role demanded a better performer. Anurag Kashyap has done a terrific job as the antagonist; still, people who have watched the original version would rave about what John Vijay did incomparably!
