Producer C.V.Kumar is most known for making quality entertainers like Attakathi, Pizza, The Villa, Soodhu Kavvum, Thegidi, Mundaasupatti, Indru Netru Naalai directed by debutants in a shoestring budget. ‘Adhe Kangal’ directed by Rohin Venkatesan is one such film, that is definitely worth your time and money!
The film revolves around a blind youngster (who got his vision recently), trying to solve a mystery. Unintentionally, the film does remind us of some landmark heist films in Tamil like ‘Pachaikili Muthucharam’ and ‘Sathuranga Vettai’. Despite a few flaws and predictability, the watertight screenplay and the technical brilliance has been the biggest plus points of ‘Adhe Kangal’.
The gripping narration keeps hold of the viewers for 120 minutes, regardless of the fact that the audience goes ahead of the script at times. The scenes where the protagonist connects the dots and unveils the truth are very interestingly executed. Even though we are able to predict some pivotal twists in earlier stage itself, the director wins by the way he has presented it – the solid writing in the characterization of ‘Deepa’ and the way Shivada Nair has carried it has added ample value to the film’s success. Wow, what a seamlessly done performance by Shivada; she has delivered an unmatchable performance with no complaints, in a way that you cannot think of anyone else for this role. Ghibran‘s songs & background score, Ravivarman‘s cinematography and Leo John Paul‘s editing has been a cohesive team work hand-in-hand, elevating the film’s standard to a greater height.
On the whole, ‘Adhe Kangal’ is a recommendable entertainer that will not fail to keep you engaged all through its running time. 🙂
